John Sargent and Fashion · Artist and Stylist
I love going to the Victoria and Albert, and one of my favourite places to visit is the Victoria and Albert Fashion and Textile Museum. It’s a haven for fashion aficionados like me, and I never miss the chance to see, and sometimes share, my visits with the obligatory #victoriaandalbertmuseum, #trulycaroleann, and #personalstylist tags on my socials.
But let me share something exciting from this Spring…
I received an invitation to an exhibition at #TateBritain displaying the remarkable works of none other than #JohnSingerSargent titled #SargentAndFashion. Wonderful, powerful, and inspiring! Sargent’s paintings exuded a captivating energy, each stroke a testament to his great talent and vision.
I am sharing a few pictures with you while encouraging you to see the exhibition in real life to appreciate just what a genius he was at painting with such a richness of colours and textures. One painting, a stunning portrayal of a velvet dress, seemed to me to come alive on the canvas. It was so vivid that I felt as though I could reach out and touch it and feel the pile on the velvet dress.
As I left the Tate, I couldn’t help but reflect on the profound impact of art on our lives. I do visit different exhibitions, but my favourites have to do with colour, style, and texture—such a fabulous way of connecting us to something greater, sparking inspiration, and igniting our imaginations. I’m predictable, but I guess my career and my passions are inextricably linked.
So, here’s to embracing the beauty of art in all its forms, whether it’s through a visit to a museum or simply taking a moment to appreciate the world around us.
Love, Carole Ann (truly)
